Black Orpheus Revisited
Please join us from October 31 to November 3 at ART X Lagos for the unveiling of Black Orpheus Exploration Project our year-long project to explore, examine, and engage with the legacy of Black Orpheus to African literature, art, and culture production.
Read more about the project here.
The ART X Exhibition, featuring a few physical copies of Black Orpheus and archival entries of Wọlé Ṣóyínká, Demas Nwoko, Bruce, Onobrakpeya, Colette Omogbai, JP Clark, and others, offers the visitor a look at the legacy of Black Orpheus, its visionary editors, and its role in early Nigerian and African literature and art production. In the course of the year, we will invite writers, artists, and scholars to interact with the physical and digital archives of Black Orpheus and show us what we need to know, and remember.
Here’s the invitation card. Please scan the QR code to go to the project page.
The year-long project is generously funded by Open Society Foundations. Other collaborators include Susanne Wenger Foundation, Archivi.ng, June Creative Arts Agency, ART X Lagos, and others to be named.
